The length of your Invisalign treatment process will depend on your specific case. Here's a little from our dentists on what you can expect from start to finish.
As with traditional metal braces, the entire Invisalign treatment process generally takes about a year from start to finish.
However, it's important to remember that your treatment can be shorter or longer depending on your specific case and how misaligned your teeth are.
To find out for sure how long your Invisalign treatment will take visit your dentist.
Getting Started
A consultation at your dentist's office is the first step in the Invisalign process. Your dentist will complete a comprehensive exam including dental impressions and x-rays, then use this information to create a custom treatment plan specifically for you.
If you decide that Invisalign is right for you then your dentist will send your information to Invisalign technicians who will create your custom Invisalign trays. This step in the process will take up to four weeks.
Treatment Phase
As soon as your clear aligners are ready, you will pick them up at your dentist's office. The dentist will make sure that your aligners fit well and then you can take them home.
It's important that you wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours each day (only removing them for eating, drinking and cleaning) and change them every two weeks until treatment is complete.
Finishing Up
You can expect to achieve the results set out in your treatment plan within the timeframe specified by your dentist, provided that you have followed your dentist's instructions during treatment.
