Invisalign has very little impact on your day-to-day routines while at home, work or play. That's why our dentists recommend it as an ideal alternative to traditional braces.
Many patients are surprised at how little Invisalign impacts their daily routine.
Unlike traditional braces, you can simply remove your Invisalign clear aligners as needed, as long as you're sure to have them in for 20 to 22 hours every day.
Brushing & Flossing
Invisalign won’t have any impact on your oral care routines at home. You can take your aligners out to clean your teeth as usual, ideally after every snack and meal.
Many patients actually experience an improvement in their oral health since they tend to pay more attention to keeping their teeth clean while wearing the aligners.
Eating & Drinking
Invisalign also won’t have any impact on what you eat. Just remove your aligners at mealtime and put them back in after you've finished eating and brushed your teeth.
If anything, you may want to make some small adjustments to your eating schedule, such as eating fewer, larger meals rather than snacking regularly and needing to clean your teeth each time.
You are able to drink water with your aligners in, but be sure to remove them before you drink any dark, coloured or sugary liquids - they’ll stain your aligners.
Playing Sports
Invisalign aligners help straighten your teeth, but they won't protect them from injury. If you play contact sports, it’s best to remove your aligners and wear a sports guard instead. This will protect your teeth while you’re playing and keep your aligners safe as well.
